HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 11 (acn) Hundreds of Peruvians delivered a letter at the US embassy in Lima, in which they demand President Barack Obama the release of the five Cuban antiterrorists unjustly incarcerated in his country.
The letter, signed by intellectuals, solidarity-with-Cuba activists and other
personalities, points out that "the world has been patiently waiting over the last 12 months with the idea that you would put an end to that farce", the www.antiterroristas.cu web site reports.
It affirms that Gerardo Hernandez, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez, are real heroes in the struggle against terrorism, “who continue in opprobrious imprisonment and have already served 11 years in prison."
"We, Peruvian citizens, who have requested in various ways the release of The Five, reiterate our demand. Justice should be served and The Five should be set free NOW”, adds the letter.
Poets Hildebrando Perez, Marco Martos, Rossina Valcarcel and Winston Orrillo, singer-songwriter Marcela Perez, and fine art creators Fanny Palacios and Bruno Portugues are among the signatories.
